The Maples is a Victorian building once occupied by a doctor and his family. In its second life, it became a residential home before being purchased by the current owners who renamed it ‘The Maples’.
Unfortunately, as with us all, our lovely Home is beginning to show her age so in 2021 a programme of refurbishments began which will continue throughout 2022. So, The Maples is having a facelift, both inside and out, to enhance the living environment of our residents.
Internally, we have already carried out a sympathetic refurbishment of the windows, main lounges, dining areas, main entrance foyer, staircase and our often quirkily shaped, resident bedrooms, all with furnishings echoing the ‘Arts and Crafts’ features of the original interior.
If you spotted the scaffolding, the external refurbishment began with the roof in late Autumn 2021. Our contractors will next be tackling the black and white half-timbered frontage, so beloved of the Victorians, so look out for updates on The Maples Facebook Page.
